To Tell the Truth*
If your sex life has been lacking some oomph lately, itâs time to ask yourself: Whatâs missing? If itâs variety, it could be worth mining some of your sexual fantasies for new sex play ideas. If you wish your partner would try something youâve enjoyed in the past, thatâs worth bringing up as well. Just be sure to bring it up delicately. Because weâd bet the farm that your new S.O. has no interest in imagining what went on beneath the sheets between you and your exes. Also, be careful not to present these new ideas as something your sex life is lacking... rather, present them as things that will only make it better. To help you out, weâve come up with a little game: To Tell the Truth.
Location: Sit facing each other on your bed. That way, if the mood strikes you, the two of you can get busy at a momentâs notice.
Props: Your imaginations (or photographic memories).
Do It: This game is similar to the game Two Truths and a Lie, in which players present to a group of people two true things theyâve done in the past, plus one outrageous lie. The more difficult it is to distinguish between the truths and the lie, the more fun it is!
In this case, however, youâre only sharing with your partner. Andâdepending upon whether youâd like to mine your past or delve into your fantasy lifeâyouâll be sharing only one sex act youâve actually experienced or fantasized about, and mixing in two youâve either never tried or never even thought about. (The route you choose may depend upon how jealous you think your partner is likely to get when faced with your sexual past.)
The point here, of course, is to be more open about your sexual desires, and to come up with new ideas for spicing things up in the bedroom. So, once you reveal your truth, take the time to discuss what intrigues you about a certain sex act, or talk about why youâve found it enjoyable in the past. Touch upon any concerns your partner has about introducing it into your sex play and, if you or your partner is dead set against trying something, donât push the issue. The important thing is that youâve opened up a dialogue.
Andâwho knows?âafter discussing some new bedroom activities, you may find that anal play is the best thing since sliced bread, or that you really enjoy brandishing a riding crop. In this game, there are only winners.
